HOW TO MAKE A TELLURIDE WEB
TV.com VIDEO to submit.
Step 1: Have an idea
It's much easier to make a great video if you come up with the idea
for the video before you go out shooting. You can get an idea from
any of the videos on the site or be creative and come up with your
own idea for a TELLURIDE WEB TV.com clip. Whether it's a
documentary, home video about skiing in Telluride, TELLURIDE WEB
TV.com videos are usually entertaining/interesting to a Telluride
audience. Also keep in mind that TELLURIDE WEB TV.com videos are
usually less than fifteen (15) minutes in length. (Making a funny
face into your video camera is not a good idea. On the other hand,
teaching your dog to ride a snowboard is a great idea.) Remember to
be safe and have fun.
Step 2: Have a plan
After you have an idea plan out how you are going to video it.
Tips:
1) Get some friends to help you. It's usually better to have more
than one camera videoing the same event to give you different angles
of the action.
2) Don’t video into your light source (example: the sun, ceiling
lights, etc.), because you don’t want backlight to wash out your
picture.
3) Don’t use a web cam, video phone, or your digital still camera to
video. There are two reasons for this: the first one is the quality
is really bad, second we want good audio and with any of those
devices you won’t get that much if any audio. Here's an example of
poor picture quality from a video phone:
We recommend that you use a real video camera, preferably mini-DV.
4) Keep the camera as still as you can, if you have a tripod use it.
When the camera is moving around and shaking a lot, it is hard to
tell what is going on and it makes people sick.
5) After the action happens keep the camera going to get people's
reactions. Don’t just drop the camera. If you drop the camera
viewers won't know what happened after the action.
6) After you have a few clips have someone else review your footage.
What's funny or interesting to you may not be to anyone else. You
can test your video by playing it for a few friends and asking them
for their honest opinion.
Step 3: Capture, edit and encode your
video
The goal is to get us the raw footage with the most amount
resolution and least amount of compression. (You want to use just
enough compression to send the file to us over email and no more.)
Ideally, we would like video clips with resolution of at least 720 x
480 with enough compression to make one to fifteen minutes of
footage fit into 5MB to 50 or so. If you keep your clip around 5 MB,
it should be no problem to send us the clip over email.
Very important: Don’t over edit -- which means don’t add sound
effects, background music, special effects or filters. If you're
video is not very good on its own no amount of editing will usually
help. Again we just want to raw footage and we'll handle the
editing.
If you need software to help edit and encode your video we suggest
that you use Windows Movie Maker. It's free and easy. You can
download it from here:

Once installed:
1) Open Movie Maker
2) Plug your camera into your computer
3) Go to File > Capture Video
4) Enter a file name for the video
5) Choose the place to save the captured video > Next
6) Click on "Best quality for playback on my computer" > Next
7) Click on "Capture parts of the tape manually" > Next
8) Uncheck "Create clips when wizard finishes"
9) Get the video where you want it and then hit "Start Capture"
10) Once you have captured everything you want hit "Finish"
11) Drag your video to the filmstrip below
12) To trim the video go to View > Timeline. Then below you will
see your clip, you can move the ends of the clip to shorten it.
You can also put the cursor in the middle of a clip and go to
Clip > Split and it will split the clip, then you can get rid of
unwanted footage in the middle of the video.
14) Then go to File > Save Movie File
15) Click on My Computer > Next
16) Enter a name for your video
17) Save it to a place that you will remember where it is > Next
18) Click on the link "Show more choices"
19) Click "Other settings:"
20) On the Drop down menu click on the "High quality video
(large)
21) Click Finish
22) Close Movie Maker

Step 4: Send the video in
Attach the video to an email and send to
editor@telluridetoday.com.

OF WEBSITE ACCESS (“TERMS OF SERVICE”) AND THE TERMS AND

INCORPORATED HEREIN BY REFERENCE. If you do not agree to any

2. User Submissions
Telluride WEB TV.com is requesting members of the public to
submit videos that they have produced for consideration in
connection with its website and related television programs
and wireless and online broadcasts.
Telluride WEB TV.com is NOT requesting (i) that you or
anyone else engage in any activities that may create a risk
of harm, loss, physical or mental injury, emotional
distress, death, disability, disfigurement, or physical or
mental illness to you, to any other person, or to any
animal; (ii) that you or anyone else engage in any
activities that may create a risk of any other loss or
damage to person or property; or (iii) that you or anyone
else engage in any activity that may constitute a crime or
tort.
You agree that you will not engage in any of the foregoing
activities in connection with producing your submission.
Without limiting the foregoing, you agree that you will not
inflict emotional distress on other people, will not
humiliate other people (publicly or otherwise), will not
assault or threaten other people, will not enter onto
private property without permission, and will not otherwise
engage in any activity that may result in injury, death,
property damage, and/or legal liability of any kind.
Telluride WEB TV.com will not consider for broadcast any
submissions in which Telluride WEB TV.com believes (in its
sole discretion) that any such activities have occurred.
IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18, Telluride WEB
TV.com WILL NOT LOOK AT YOUR SUBMISSION WITHOUT YOUR PARENT
OR GUARDIAN'S CERTIFICATION THAT YOUR PARENT OR GUARDIAN
APPROVED OF THE ACTIVITIES INVOLVED WITH YOUR SUBMISSION
BEFORE YOU BEGAN PRODUCING IT.
In consideration of the possibility of Telluride WEB TV.com'
broadcasting the User Submission (as defined below) or parts
thereof, Telluride WEB TV.com Website may now or in the
future permit the publication of videos or other
communications submitted by you and other users ("User
Submissions"). Any User Submission posted or sent to
Telluride WEB TV.com shall automatically be deemed
non-confidential. By posting or sending a User Submission,
you expressly grant Telluride WEB TV.com a royalty-free,
sublicensable, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive,
worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, edit,
translate, distribute, perform, display, and make derivative
works of such User Submission and your name, voice, and/or
likeness as contained in your User Submission, in whole or
in part, and in any form, media or technology, whether now
known or hereafter developed including all promotion,
advertising, marketing, merchandising, publicity and any
other ancillary uses thereof, and including the unfettered
right to sublicense such rights, in perpetuity throughout
the universe.
You shall be solely responsible for your own User
Submissions and the consequences of posting or publishing
them. In connection with User Submissions, you affirm,
represent and/or warrant that: (i) You own, or have the
necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use
and authorize Telluride WEB TV.com to use, all patent,
trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary
rights ("Intellectual Property") in and to any and all User
Submissions in the manner contemplated by the Website and
these Terms of Service; and (ii) You have the written
consent, release, and /or permission of each and every
identifiable individual person in the User Submission to use
the name or likeness of each and every such identifiable
individual person in the manner contemplated by the Website

used to create and that you have created the User
Submission; (iii) you are not and am not an agent of

infringe any rights of any third party (including without

By using this web site you acknowledge and agree to the
following rules regarding Contests and Ratings, along with

To be eligible for contests, videos must be uploaded before
midnight on the last day of each contest period.
Participants may upload multiple videos, but may only submit
the same or very similar videos once. Each submission must
be solely the original work of the entrant. No purchase of
any kind is necessary to participate. Winners will be chosen
by viewers and the Telluride WEB TV.com staff according to
highest average ratings. Upon request, prizewinners agree to
complete an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity
release, including social security number for IRS reporting
purposes. Anyone may enter, but participants must have
exclusive rights to all intellectual property associated
with the video and full contractual releases from all
persons and entities seen, spoken of, and/or shown on the
video. Participants acknowledge that by submitting a video

11. Ability to Accept Terms of Service

13. Copyright

procedures regarding allegations of copyright infringement
